The I International Congress on Sustainable Collective Housing occurred at Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Barcelona (ETSAB-UPC), between February 25 and 27, 2014 in the context of the 10th edition of the course “Master Laboratorio de la Vivienda Sostenible del Siglo XXI (MLVSSXXI)” directed Josep Maria Montaner and Zaida Muxí Martínez.

From this first congress, it was proposed to organize an event, in a rotating way, every two years. This initiative aims to provide students, professionals and academics dedicated to topics related to architecture and urbanism, a space of reflection, on an international basis, about collective housing and its relationship to contemporary and historical
city.

The II Congress took place in São Paulo in April 2016, in collaboration with Faculdade de Arquitetura e Urbanismo da Universidade de Sao Paulo (FAUUSP).

The III International Congress on Sustainable Collective Housing will be held from April 18th to 20th, 2018, in Guadalajara-Mexico, in collaboration with the Laboratory of Innovation, Design and City of the School of Art, Architecture and Design of Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education (EAAD-ITESM).

As in previous editions, this III Congress will also feature Comlementary Activities. During April 11th, 12th, 13th and 14th, 2018, the Workshop Habitar el Presente will be held and, on April 14th and 15th the Recorrido por Guadalajara (routes through the city) will occur, providing the experience to get in touch with the urban form of the city and the residential buildings. In addition, there will also be a poster exhibition of papers related to collective
housing.
